“It is so exciting to see the improvement in these children, I look forward to discussing their progress with their parents each week.   I really believe that the cornerstone of the treatment intervention your center provides is the improved regulation that these children are now demonstrating that is allowing them to more fully engage with and make sense of their world instead of becoming so overwhelmed and withdrawing into themselves.  All of the parents are also able to see improvements in their children, and they report that in general, there is less stress occurring in their child's daily routines of dressing, bathing, mealtimes, and transitions such as getting ready for school, bed, etc. Based on my observations and conversations with parents, I believe their quality of life has definitely improved as well.   

My therapy sessions are now so much more effective for these children and I can get them to engage in play-based sensory-motor activities for longer periods of time in order to facilitate motor learning and improved integration of multiple sensory inputs.  I am also seeing more inner directedness in the children and they are starting to choose their activities based on their understanding of what feels good to them (i.e., choosing a swing that provides rotary and/or orbital input versus a swing that provides linear input or vice versa, or choosing an activity that incorporates more proprioceptive input versus more vestibular input).   

I just wanted to share this information with you to let you know that what you are doing is working and that I am definitely seeing progress in all areas of development in the children that I treat at my clinic.  Thanks again for bringing the Neurosensory Center to Kingston! “
